What products are good for cleansing post an exercise session?

Find a cleanser that suits your skin and your budget. Ideally one that is PH Balanced, doesn’t dry our your skin too much, removes impurities and can be used twice a day. Gel and foam cleansers are always popular. If you are wanting something even easier to travel with, or throw into your gym bag, the Smitten cleansing mitts are great to use with just warm water.

What would you recommend for someone who wants coverage of spots or blemishes at the gym?

A tinted spot treatment gel is great. Mesoestetic have a great product called Imperfection Control, which helps treat and conceal. Otherwise find a concealer for blemished skin.

Is it true that it’s not advisable to exercise with makeup on? And if so, why?

It’s not ideal, as exercising helps oxygenate your body and your cells, so you want your skin to breathe. Exercising also causes perspiration, which, if pores are clogged with make-up, can cause breakouts. If you are very conscious, applying a little concealer under the eyes or around the nose, won’t be too bad.

 What would you recommend to someone fit that experiences acne on their chest and back?

Showering straight after your workouts. Staying in sweaty workout clothes, is never a good thing, so it’s a good habit to get into. There are light weight moisturisers, or medication you can take to get severe cases under control.

We all know that sunblock is important, but does it not clog the pores and cause acne?

Not if you use the right sunblock for your skin! Heliocare make a range, for all skin types, from oily to sensitive, dry and post treatment. Ensure you are using the right sunblock with a high SPF especially for your face, and it definitely won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts.

Is it true that natural salt water (on those hot beach days) helps clear up your skin?

It has been known to clear the nasal passages, but not necessarily the skin. It tends to dry out the skin too much, and without replenishing or rehydrating your skin, it can cause your skin to produce excess sebum/oil.

How can one catch a tan without damaging your skin?

By doing so gradually, through a sunblock. Or use a natural looking self-tan product.

Whats should be the number one skin priority as summer arrives?

Sunblock! Without a doubt, wear it everyday, even on overcast days and reapply for prolonged sun exposure. Try find one that contains anti-oxidants too as they help fight free radicals and are anti-aging.
